Cloud hosting on Cloudflare, AWS and Azure

Hosting chosen to fit the project, set up properly once, and documented so it keeps running without anyone babysitting it.

What you get

  • Cloudflare Pages and Workers for websites and lightweight apps: fast everywhere, HTTPS by default, cheap to run
  • AWS or Azure when a project needs servers that run all the time, containers or managed databases
  • Publishing from Git, with staging and production kept separate so changes are checked before they go live
  • Custom domains, DNS and email records, security headers and monitoring set up as part of the job

Cloudflare, AWS or Azure?

Cloudflare suits websites, APIs and apps that do their work per request. They load fast for every visitor, there are no servers to patch, and small sites cost little or nothing to run. This site runs on it.

AWS and Azure suit projects that need long-running servers, containers, managed relational databases or background workers, and businesses whose systems already live there. Azure is often the natural fit for a business already on Microsoft 365.

Many projects use both: Cloudflare in front for speed and security, AWS or Azure behind it for the heavy lifting.

How it works

  • Discovery. What the site or app does, where its data lives, and what it needs to cost to run.
  • Build. The set-up built on a staging address first, with weekly written updates.
  • Ship. The switch to production once everything is checked, with monitoring and backups in place.
  • Handover. Written instructions for publishing changes, with ongoing care available as a retainer.

Common questions

Which should I choose: Cloudflare, AWS or Azure?

Choose Cloudflare for websites and lightweight apps that should be fast everywhere and cheap to run. Choose AWS or Azure when a project needs long-running servers, containers or managed databases, or already runs there. Many projects use Cloudflare in front of one of the others.

Can you move my existing website?

Yes. The new set-up is built and checked on a staging address first, and the switch to production happens only when it's ready.

Do I need to look after servers?

Not on Cloudflare: there are no servers to patch. On AWS or Azure the set-up is documented, and ongoing care can be covered by a support retainer. Support options.
